Welcome! Our first official website is live. Built to serve, support, and uplift.
James 1:27 (KJV) states: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." This powerful verse serves as a reminder of our responsibilities toward those who are vulnerable and in need, particularly widows who often face profound grief and isolation.
What About the Widows is a faith-based ministry created to support widows and widowers as they adjust to life after the loss of a spouse. We recognize that grief does not follow a schedule and does not end after the funeral. For many, the hardest moments come later, when phone calls slow down, visits stop, and daily responsibilities feel heavier. Our ministry exists to ensure that no widow or widower feels forgotten, overlooked, or alone.
We provide a caring community where individuals can share their experiences, speak openly about their pain, and find comfort among others who understand loss firsthand. Through regular fellowship, worship services, conferences, and support gatherings, we create space for healing, reflection, and renewed hope. We also focus on practical needs, offering encouragement, connection, and resources that support emotional, spiritual, and everyday well-being.
Our mission is rooted in compassion and guided by James 1:27, calling us to care for widows in their time of need. We honor the lives of those who have passed while walking closely with those they left behind. At What About the Widows, every story matters, every life has value, and every person deserves continued care, love, and support.
“Let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16). This carousel highlights the work God is doing through What About the Widows, showing the many ways we serve and support widows and widowers. From fellowship gatherings and support meetings to annual worship services and conferences, widow and widower recognition events, and outreach programs providing practical care, each image reflects a moment of connection, comfort, and celebration. These snapshots remind us that through community and faith, lives are uplifted, grief is met with compassion, and hope is renewed.
Quarterly Fellowship Gatherings
Every three months, we bring widows and widowers together for fellowship, encouragement, and open conversation. These gatherings provide a safe and welcoming space to check in on well being, share needs, and receive comfort from others who understand the weight of loss. Fellowship meetings help build lasting relationships and remind participants that they are not alone.
Worship Service and Conference
Each year, we host a worship service and conference dedicated to healing, reflection, and renewal. These events include prayer, worship, teaching, and guest speakers who address grief, faith, and life after loss. The conference equips participants with spiritual tools, coping strategies, and encouragement to move forward with strength and purpose.
Widow and Widower Recognition Program
We honor widows and widowers who demonstrate resilience, growth, and service in their lives after loss. Through annual recognition, we celebrate personal achievements, perseverance, and contributions to family and community. This program affirms that life continues with meaning and value.
Ongoing Support and Outreach
Beyond scheduled events, the ministry provides continued outreach through phone calls, visits, prayer, and resource sharing. We check in regularly to ensure emotional and practical needs are being met, especially for those who may feel isolated or overlooked.
